Won't start acts like it is choking out

99 Mazda 626 Automatic Trans, car runs great. If I drive 25-30 miles and shut the ignition off, then try to recrank immediately car won't start for 20-30 minutes. Acts like it wants to start, but runs real rough and chokes out. I was driving in traffic 2 days ago and while in stop and go traffic, car choked out and died, when I tried to start it back up. It would start but sputtered and choked out. I had it towed to the house and car cranked immediatley. Replace fuel filter, drove the car and after driving for about 20 miles...car won't start back up shutting it off. We waited 20 minutes, car cranked back up.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the fuel pump is dying when its warm/hot. Test your fuel pressure when it fails to start and let us know what it is, as an alternative have a helper crank the engine over when its failing to start while you hit the fuel tank in various spots with a rubber hammer and see if it helps.
