Hi

I have a 1999 Mazda 323F and trying to locate the "port" within the car to which the diagnosis computer can be connected to trouble shoot the check the car not starting.

Does anyone know where it is located?

Under the dash on the driver's side. You may need a flashlight to find it though. They can hide, and hide very well when everything else around it is dark and/or black.

Is that right, I also have a 1999 Mazda 323F/Se that is dead at the moment, the mechanic said it has no obd11 port, just a dignosis port in the engine bay, he does not know what code reader will fit it. Mazda said no 323f prior to 2000 had an OBD2 port? The diagnosis port has 25 pins in total with only 14 of them looking like they have the metal switch in them to use, most confusing. Does any one know what machine/wire can be plugged to find out why she will not start?

All the RHD 323's I've seen are in the engine bay behind the LH suspension tower by the firewall.

:confused: there is a diagnosis in the engine bay but what reader plugs into it? I have been told that no 323 prior to 2000 has OBD2??

Either the factory mazda/ford tester or most generic testers will have a adapter plug.

All cars built for the US have OBDII since 1996... GM began in the middle of '95. If it's a US spec car, it has got to be there somewhere.....

All the pre 2002 mazda cars ive worked on have the diagnostic plug in the engine bay. When the M2, M3 & M6 came out it was inside the car.
