Default Synthetic ATF??

I cannot find a definite answer...I am getting a 1998 626 Transmission Rebuilt and I want to run synthetic's, although SOMEWHERE....I have heard that Mobil 1 ATF is bad? Is this true for our cars? I am getting it rebuilt in two weeks and need to know what people think of differetn types of Transmission Fluids for the car.

I would fully endorse synthetic myself...great stuff! I can't say anything about Mobil 1, good or bad.

I would recommend Amsoil for the fluid. They sell synthetic for all the other fluids too. Here is a link to check out>>> AMSOIL

bkey71 I mean is it even worth putting synthetic in an older car? I mean, lets just say for exp. a 92 323?

I was always told that synthetic was the way to go but if you have an old car that you souldn't worry about it because you would have a lot of problems with leaks and other stuff like that.

I also heard that it is bad to go from one regular type of oil to synthetic is that at all true?

The only big concern would be oil leaks. If you have been using natural oil with good results, keep using it.

I mean it just wouldn't really be worth it on an older car?

It couldn't hurt. If you start developing leaks, just switch back to natural oil.
