surges when throttle applied 88 323 wgn
 

hi im new here and need help;88 323 wgn auto trans,car was given to me not running,had it towed from were it stopped. did some trouble shooting found ign module bad in dist.also insulation on wires to module were cracked inside dist. made new harness using exsisting connectors and bought new module car fired right up idles a little high.but when you apply throttle it surges and will not build more than a few hundred rpm,almost like a rev limiter is holding it there. has new plugs cap and rotor are servicable wires are to.there is NO misfiring, sounds tight no rattles or abnormal sounds other than surging.any suggestions??? thanks R.K.

hey check this out while trouble shooting ,I decided to put some sea foam in the fuel and oil and let the engine idle and warm up prior to changing oil and check gauges fan and a/c operation ect. did oil changed ran and leak checked engine than haven't done anything for days went out to work on car today, started it up and it idles higher by about 300 rpm but the surging stopped,shut it down and restarted after aprox. 3 sec heard a click it idled 300 rpm lower and the surge returned played with throttle a few times heard another click and now I cant make it surge any more idle is still high ,I will adjust tomorrow,drove car and it runs killer,go figure.any ideas on whats clicking when the problem starts and stops? will check operation in the morning.
