Default ABS Diagnostics 98 626

I have a US 1998 Mazda 626 LX 2.5L, 5spd with anti-lock brakes and traction control. The car has 167k miles on it and the ABS, TCS and 'TCS OFF' lights are displaying.

I have a OBD II code reader that has an ABS module (Centech 60794) but it doesn't pick up any codes. Likewise, Autozone, Advance Auto, etc code readers don't display codes either.

I would try to use the Diagnostics port under the hood to force the display of the codes on the dash, but my car does not seem to have a diagnostics port under the hood. I have checked near the main fuse box and front and back of both strut towers. I can see from pictures on Youtube that others have a grey port behind the left strut tower or near the fuse box but if mine has one, it isn't in either of these places.

I have not yet done any specific checks of the sensors or wiring and was hoping that someone could tell me why the OBD scanner is not returning codes and how else I might go about debugging the problem before doing individual checks on each wheel speed sensor or ABS Controller.

Thank you.

I suggest visiting your local Mazda dealer. They should have the diagnostic equipment from that era.
