Mazda 323F - Central door locking problem

Hi I'm new to the forum and having read all the posts already made I've already learned loads so thanks for that. The problem I'm experiencing is with the central door locking which is completely kaput - it doesn't work with the key in either front door or with any of the internal manual operations.

I've downloaded a wiring diagram and managed to check the fuses but I don't know where the Door Lock timer unit is located within the car so can't make any further progress - can anyone help.

RE: Mazda 323F - Central door locking problem

Hi mate,
The lock timer is located directly above the interior fuse box in the drivers footwell.
however, your most likely cause is the drivers door lock switch.
Its a tiny micro switch located on the drivers door lock mechanism which is ooperated by the key in the drivers door.
remove your door card and it will have 3 wires connected to it, over beside the latch.
Its perfectly normal for the passenger lock not to operate the central locking. It has no switch, so unlocking the passenger door will not unlock all the others.
;)

RE: Mazda 323F - Central door locking problem

Many thanks to bggeetee for the response but before I received it I had traced the problem to the anti-theft alarm / immobiliser which had been fitted before I purchased the car but after manufacture.

For those who may have a similar problem, I actually found the door lock timer relays in the passenger foot-well just beside the bottom door hinge. I discovered that the alarm auto door-locking connections were also made at this point so it was made a bit easier to isolate the problem to identify what exactly was wrong. Having managed to get a replacement door lock timer unit from the scrappy's (5 pounds as against 166 from the dealer), I disconnected the alarm before connecting the unit, it worked fine and I was able to identify that there were dodgy conditions coming from the alarm control unit.

Now all I ahve to do is buy a new alarm unit - doh !!!!!!!
