Mazda 2.0 premacy Idle issue

Hi all,

I took my car (Premacy 2.0 sport, 2002) out on friday to my brothers, the journey there was fine no problems,
But on the way home when stopping at junction, roundabouts, etc. The rev's would drop to around 500rpm for a second or two, the come back up and idle around the 750 mark.
The car's been fine so far, and the only thing i have done since purchase is change the dirty Air filter that was in.

Anyone had any similar issues?

Sure! I had that happening with the '98 Protege (Familia or 323 in other countries).
Clean the throttle body and the IAC (Idle air controller). Clean the MAF sensor. Make sure to use only the appropriate types of cleaners. That should help.

Soon as the weather clears up a bit, that will be my first job along with service.
Is the IAC located next to the throttle body?

It is fitted to the throttle body.

Ok, took the maf, throttle body and IAC off, cleaned them all,
Changed the spark plugs, old ones were in poor shape,

Put it all back together, checked all pipes for damage or leaks, nothing found.

Took it for a spin got it nice and warm, and stopped at the local supermarket,
The car seems to rev a lot better, but is idling a lot worse than before,

After getting home i disconnected the maf while the engine was running,
revved up to around 1100 rpm, and threw up the usual error codes.
Reconnected and rev's dropped back down.

Is it worth doing an ecu reset? or have i missed something?
