IMMOBILISER PROBLEM

Can anyone help. My sister has a Mazda 323 Demio (2000). The car won't start and she has been advised that the immobiliser has kicked in. Manual says to take it to a Mazda dealer which will obviously cost her. Is there any way round about this?[:o]
