High reving between 2nd & 3rd

I have an 89 Mazda 323 with 185,000 kms. The vehicle is automatic. Lately the vehicle has been reving extremely high before changing from second to third gear. No it doesnt change at all the vehicle just continues to rev extremely high.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it shifts properly between first and second and third to fourth I would think it is a sticking valve in the valve body. If it shifts hard on all gears I would think it is a problem in the kickdown cable being out of adjustment.
