hi guys newby here.

i am so glad i found an active comunity for mazda. ok this is my first mazda it is 1991 323 familia saloon.
i am saying this is my first mazda couse im from europe and my cars had always been fords, vw, skodas well dose sort of cars. and this is my first jap one. used to hate them dont now why :P

but now i sure changed my mind. well it has a littel 1.3 that for its size it has respectabel power for a daily runabout. right after i got it i got some 15 inch wheels whit some beefy tyres and nice exhoust system. and it makes a very nice sound.

but until recently sometimes the engine drops rpm and shuts off i restart it rev it up a littel and it works normaly.. any idea?

also when it reaches 3k rpm for a sec it like looses power but when it gets over the 3k rpmits just a poket roket.... im confused!

i think theres might be dirt in the carburator??

Hi newby,

Not a whole lot of information there.

1991 323 1.3L carburated that dies intermittently....

Does it die going down the road?
Sitting at idle?
Does it do it more hot or cold?

I don't really think it'd be a carburator problem if it stalls and then starts right back up.
If dirt were in the carb it would die and stay dead until the problem was fixed.

I'd say it's more than likely an electric blip. Like a wire being disturbed as you hit bumps in the road.

The 'taking off like a pocket rocket after 3k' maybe be more timing related with the advance (vacuum advance?)

I'm not 100% without seeing it and not being too familiar with EU car construction.
