Default Help!! not getting fire to spark plugs 93 929

Hello I have a 93 929 that was having a problem of not wanting to idle. it would start then die and start again and run as long as you kept giving it gas. we order a idle postioning sensor I think was what it is called. After installing it and a new battery. The car will not run.It sounds the same when I crank it. And i don't think i'm getting spark to the spark plaugs but will check it after dark again to make sure. what should i check and how do i check it to find out the reason it will not run. does the car have a coil or anything also where is it located. Because I can't buy a book for the 93 929 and i'm not having much help googling it. This car is a project for my 17 year old son and i'm thinking it may be more then we can handle. please babyheuy please help us.

The coil is on the drivers side fender under the intake boot from the aircleaner. Just follow the plugwire that leads to that fender from the distributor. They are bad about distributor problems. To check the codes look under the hood for a black plastic box on the drivers fender. On the inside of the popup lid you will see a diagram with the pin identifications. Take a paperclip and jump GRD and TEN. Turn thekey to on and count the flashs of the check engine light. 1 long flash =10, 1 short flash =1.
They were not too horribly bad about driveabilty problems but the distributors were a weak point. It was quite common for the 2 vac hoses 1 going to the aircleaner and 1 going behind the aircleaner to be swapped after an airfilter replacement or other work. The vac hose going to the aircleaner box should not have vacuum on it at idle. This is the EGR vac dump so it holds the EGR open and sets a code 16 and causes a no idle condition.. Swap those hoses where they come from the engine if there is vacuum there at idle. They also ate plugwires regularly.

Pull the codes first. If no spark it should have a code in the computer.
