Default confused with 89 323

89 mazda 323 died while going down the road. i determined there was no spark. i had heard there is problem with the rotor in distributor so i chaged that first. still no spark next i changed the cap & still no spark. ck the booked & ohm tested the coil, it was slightly ou of spec so i replaced that next. still no spark. next i ckd power wires to distributor, both are hot - which i'm not sure is a good or bad thing ??? called some friends they all said replace distributor so i did. i still have no spark the the wires. while trying to figure what else could possibly be wrong i poking everything with volt meter cking whats hot whats not. i found that the body of the distributor was 12 volts while out, but soon as it grounded it didnt ! looking inside the distributor i see the module sits on a few round
spacers ? are these supposed to keep power from going thru the module to the body ? or is alll this normal ? could i have a new distributor thats bad ? i dont know what else to look for & dont have cash to pay a shop. anyone has any ideas please let me know.
luv my car & cant sleep til it runs
thanx
