Bump, Bump, Bump

Hi folks, I'm a newbie here. I'm looking forward to dipping my toe into this sea of knowledge and experience.
So I just bought an 01 626 ES V-6 w/ 116,000 miles. The car appears to have been well taken care of.
I took it right away to my mechanic and had the transmission serviced, oil changed and new accessory belts, and asked to have the timing belt checked and see whats making noise in the rear of the car. Every little bump or low place in the road and it sounds like the spare tire is bouncing around in the trunk. I know that's not the problem because I took the spare out and get the same noise.
He said every thing suspension related was tight and all else he could think of was rear struts.
So I just picked my car up with the new strutsand Bump, bump, bump still!
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
r

Swaybar bushings maybe?

Sway bars were the first to be checked.

RE: Bump, Bump, Bump

i have the same sort of thing happening on my 93 626. i took it by my mechanic to have it checked over and he believes it to be the strut mounts in the rear and after doing some research this seems to fit the description. i have a question if anyone can answer it as well: if i replace the strut mounts should i replace the struts as well? right now the struts are fine there is no bounce or sway but im wondering if putting new strut mounts in will jeopardize their performance due to used struts?
