Default 97 626 purchase

I was offered a 626 4 cyl/5spd with 150K miles on it for 1000. The car is in good condition but needs a valve guide replaced. I know this would mean pulling the head to have it repaired but the question is:
Is the car worth the asking price?
If I get the car would it be better to just replace the head or have the current one repaired?

I would prefer to do the work myself if it is not that involved. I have done a timing belt/water pump on a 90's mazda before but did not have the head off. I have done head work on other cars before so don't think this would be to much for me to handle

Please let me know your thoughts/advise

Thanks, Kerwin

Default RE: 97 626 purchase

I made a purchase!! Now I have to do the repairs. I was told that it had a bad valve guide so I will be pulling the head to have it worked on.
Any good advice or tips on doing this? I have pulled heads before but not on a Mazda so any help would be appreciated

Thanks, Kerwin
