I'm looking at a '88 626 Non-Turbo 5spd. The car needs some tlc, but i think its worth it considering i've seen these cars at over 300,000mi. Its at just over 200,000mi now, so i think that i could get atleast 5 years out of it easy (i drive alot). Now i do have a few questions about the cars. One of the most common question is also going to be my first... What is the Non-Turbo and Turbo 2.2Ls rated for? i've found differing numbers for them both, can anyone clear this up for me? Also about what do they weigh? Now, are there any suspension problems or steering probs with 'em? The one i'm looking at has a nonworking power sunroof in it, is this a common thing and what is it most likely? I can hear the motor when i hit the slide buttons but not the tilt ones. I know i'm forgetting things. BUt if anyone has any advice as to what to check for it'd be appreciated. Thanx

P.S. They want about $1500 for it, is this fair for one? The blue book is at $635 in its current condition, no wiat.. actually its $375 because it needs a radiator (or it did when i drove it). I could prolly get it for around 1200 or a grand though if i offered in cash. But i can't really do that right now becaseu i was going to try to trade my blazer (love it but the gas mileage is killing me, even with overdrive the 3.73 gears are killers on the highway. At around 55 i pull like 2200rpm, but i'm going by sound and expirience because i don't think the thing is worth putting a tach in) in for it and go from there. the norm at the lot that has it is to pay half down and then pay weekly or monthly on it.

also, if anyone could tell me arounf the average 1/4 mile time for a n.a 626 it'd be appreciated. I've tried using a 1/4 calculator and it just doesn't seem like its right.. idk seems like they are faster then about 18.
Thanx

$1500 or even $1200 sounds kind of high for an 18 year old car with 200k on the clock. Better be darn near mint condition for that kind of money. With that kind of miles you might consider a used car check.

Well i went back to check it out today. The radiator is fixed as is the back hatch (wouldn't open before), But the clutch feels wierd still, at first i though it was me but i had my dad drive it and he said it is too. we both say its catching to late. Like you have to have the thing half way out before it catches. Is the clutch on these hydrolic or cable? i could've looked but i didn't think about it till i got home. If its hydrolic it could just need blead or something like that.. just simple stuff. Also it wants to stall sometimes. Now given it is low on gas and there is prolly old gas still in it, what could it be other than normal stuff like fuel filter, injectors clogged, pressure reg., or even water in the gas. Thanx
