88' 323 Hatchback Performance?
 

Ive Been trying to find a cool air intake to fit on my 1988 mazda 323 hatchback, its 1.6L SOHC
but i cant find any to fit, if anyone knows anything please do tell, and will this car take a performance chip?

You'll have to fab your own which is not that hard to do. Get a dual-cone filter off of ebay and some aluminum flat bar for making custom supports. You'll need a hacksaw, drill and a few other simple tools. Take out the stock box, blow it up or drop it off a cliff (kidding). You'll also need to find a way to support the coil since in the stock configuration it is bolted down the stock box (which you got rid of). Let me know id you need more help. This is the cheapest way to go.

I did this to my 323LX along with a large diameter exhaust and got 35+mpg on the highway.

I CANT HELP YOU WITH THE AIR INTAKE ( I WOULD LEAVE IT ALONE) SORRY BUT MAYBE
YOU CAN HELP ME I AM FAIRLY NEW AND DONT KNOW HOW TO POST A NEW THREAD
MY PROBLEM IS ( JUST DEVELOPED) A RAIN WATER LEAK IN THE AREA OF THE DRIVERS LEFT FOOT. I THINK ITS A WINSHIELD LEAK BUT CANT SPOT IT...I TRIED HOSING THE
VEHICLE AND THEN OPENING THE DOOR TO CHECK BUT NO LUCK SO FAR MAYBE SOMEONE HAS COME ACROSS THIS BEFORE. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.....TONY
PS: THERE IS VERY LITTLE ROOM IF ANY FOR A COLD AIR INTAKE.

in regards to the cold air, fabricating is best, most models made before 1998 dont have many aftermarket proform parts and if you find them they cost you an arm and leg, and to the other post about the water leak, check the seal around your hood in the engine compartment and the seals by the firewall, a few electrical components run through the engine into the cab through the frame and if its not sealed up tight you can get water pooling on the floorboard on the drivers side :-D
