626 Radio Reset Code

Hi, I am new to the Forum and hope this is the proper place for this. I am a Vet student and my father just bought me a "93 Mazda 626 for college and the battery went dead (my fault). I cant afford what the local dealer wants to reset my radio. Can someone help me with the reset procedure and is there a master reset code? Someone told me there is one, but didnt know it. Do they ever put the code somewhere in the car? Glad I found this place. It's seems nice anf I always seem to need car help.

RE: 626 Radio Reset Code

There is a master code that the dealers use. Most do not charge for this service as it takes 30 seconds to unlock it. If you have more than one dealer in the area i would check them.

Hi everyone,

I got same issue with my mazda 2000 626 which I bought recently. It asks for code and I contacted the previous owner but he don't know the code. I tried from the manual too but it didn't work. Can someone tell me the steps for unlocking the radio. It would be a great help. Thank you!

Hi All,

I have just purchased and got home a second hand car with no manual. The previous owner had to put in a new battery so factory fitted on cassette style radio is on error code. He told me a sticker was in glovebox and its not ( or I am blind as bat). How do I go about resetting this without an owners manual?
Its a Mazda 626 1999 sedan white 4 door model if thats of any help.
Thanks in advance
PS I don't want to have to drive without a radio, don't care if tape doesn't work as wont be used and cant afford to get new one. Car was only $500 as all I can afford right now so please don't suggest replacing.
