323 Rear brake caliper piston return tool
 

I recently had the need to push the piston back into the caliper of one of my rear brakes. In a technical sheet I have it shows a tool for this job as two plates which are forced apart by a screw mechanism. Not having this tool I made up a similar tool of my own to operate in the same way, however the piston would not budge. I once had a similar problem with a Skoda Fabia and learned that the piston has to be turned slowly clockwise as the pressure is applied.

Not having a tool to do this I achieved it by gripping the outer edge of the piston with grips and slowly rotating as I applied the pressure and this worked. I am concerned that if I have to do this again there is the risk of "chewing up" the outer edge of the piston and destroying it. The official tool shown in the technical sheet had no capacity to turn the piston as it was pressed, so I don't see how this would have worked any better than the tool I made.

There are two opposite 'V' shaped recesses in the piston face, which look as though they could be meant to form the socket for the head of a tool, so that the piston can be turned as pressure is applied, which as I found, enables the piston to retract easily.

Does anyone know of such a special tool, and if so where I can get one please.
