1990 Mazda 323 Auto to Manual conv.
Hi . I have a 1990 Mazda 323 Saloon 1.6 SE Executive Automatic. Can anyone tell me anything about this car, like what engine it has exactly, what variant/mark it is. I've done some research on wikipedia, but the model it's got for that time period seems to have different lights to the one i've got, and I don't know if the lights were different with the saloon/hatch or whatever.
The reason I need to know exactly what spec this car is is because I want to take the auto box off, and put a manual box in, and I heard that this car shares components with the ford escort? Could anyone here tell me what I could use as a direct replacement for the auto, and what manual gearboxes would be compatable with the car? From wikipedia i reckon this is the engine i've got - 1989-1991 - 1.6L (1598cc) B6, 1 barrel, 16-valve, 87hp (64kW)/92ft·lbf (125N·m) (it has a '16 Valve' sticker on the back window) |
RE: 1990 Mazda 323 Auto to Manual conv.
well you may actully have one of 3 engines either the b6 which you have the stats for, the b6F which is fuel injected and if i remember right i think i might of read somewhere its like 93Hp (actully i have this engine but i am going to swap it for a BPT GTR), or the B6T which is turbocharged and rated at about 120 HP. now if you have the B6T, it has a different tranny, but if you have either of the other 2 you may use the F-type tranny. but you may also use the F-type with the B6T but the problem is that the tranny is rated at 150 HP, so if you plan on changing it to manual for tunering, i would get the better transmission. but if not i will have a manual transmission here soon if you do not have you own yet, and you may purchese the engine as well but the rear main seal is bad.
