SRI For Protege5

Does anyone have any recommendations for a Short ram air intake for the Protege 5? I've been searching, and have been thinking about getting AEM Short Ram Intake instead of the typical K&N. Is there any noticeable difference between K&N and AEM?

Also, on their site they have the listing for one with an automatic trans. and a manual. I have a manual, but would the difference matter there? Because it looks like the manual trans. intakes are CAI and not SR.

Any help would be appreciated!

READ THIS: https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/new...-intake-29608/ Good info about SRI's.

So when you said that your air intake is a SRI and a CAI, did you just modify the Cold Air Intake and put a shield around it? Or did you just build a shield around the Short Ram Intake? Very creative Idea by the way.

Put a shield around the SRI to prevent hot air from engine bay, fan getting in. My SRI is fairly long. Some SRI's are real short. You have to be innovative. It's not pretty but it works. With CAI they are usually longer and prone to water getting in, then you need to build a water deflector. When you drive thru a puddle water splashes forward thru the holes in front of driver side tire where wheel well is.
