SPEED3 DASHBOARD RATTLE
I have an '08 Speed3 I purchased new in August.Over the past few months it has developeda really annoying dashboard rattle, morelike a tapping sound. The noise is noticeable across the entire dash around the bottom of the windshield. It sounds like, maybe, some cables are hitting from underneath; I'm not sure. I usually describe it as like someone tapping their fingers on the dash only much louder. One passenger said it sounded like bones rattling around! At first the noise was not too noticeable, but has gotten worse lately. It can be quite loud at timesthat I can hear it over the stereo. I have taken it twice to the dealer and first theysaid "we can't hear it", then they said "we can hear it, but we aren't going to fix it". They have tried to tell me that "it's normalfor these cars". Does anyone with a Speed 3 have this problem and does anyone know what could be causing it? I desperately want this fixed!
Thanks.
Thanks.
If I were in your shoes,I'd contact Mazda(USA?) and ask them to have the regional manager contact you. This should not happen in a car so new, and is certainly not "normal."
I have a spped3 and mine does the same thing. Almost sounds like rain. Lucky for me its still quite and my stereo is loud enough i cant hear it. lolol It is getting louder and sooner or later ill try and fix it or get it fixed. But your not the only one who hears it..

Well i just returned from the mazda dealer, droping my car off for a cpu recall and i just happened to ask about the dash rattle. The service mgr did a service check and up popped a bulitin on the rattle. The noise is reported to be caused by the cowling between the hood and the frontwindow. They have cowling pads that need to be installed to remedy the problem. When I pick up my car today ill ask for a copy of the bulitin and post it here. Hope this helps.
