The main reason I created this thread specifically for Mazda owners but applies to most all other platforms as well.
To respond to yours, this is because your other "OLD" Hyundai did not communicate as much (aged technology) with the key fob as most "all" newer platform model vehicles.

One of many sources of information that is fact based:

Do some vehicles constantly communicate with the key fob?

Yes, some vehicles do communicate with the key fob constantly. These vehicles use radio frequency identification (RFID) or remote keyless entry (RKE) technology, which allows the key fob to communicate with the vehicle's central processing unit (CPU) or body control module (BCM) to unlock or start the vehicle. The communication is typically done using specific radio frequencies, and the signals are heavily encrypted to prevent unauthorized access. However, not all vehicles with key fob systems do this constantly; some may only communicate when the key fob is pressed or when the vehicle is in proximity.

I think that's pretty much what I was inferring.

Not really .
You compared a decade + old technology key fob with limited control to newer Mazda's . That is not inferring. Besides your responses open the door to me posting more fact-based information.
So thanks.

So if you know so much just what does the key fob do on a new Mazda? Please don't just come back with a Google reply.

Back on intended purpose of this thread

Just a reminder for you all that have remotes to change your batteries. It is my thoughts that you should change out the battery at least 2 twice a year.
This reminder is based on the last 2 months we have had no less then 5 customers vehicles with starting issues and all it was needed was a new battery in the remote.

Not much use reading my owners manual my youngest Mazda is 35 years old. I believe one of the reasons they don't last is sometihing to do with proximity between the key and the car but I don't know what else is going on with the key. I would have thought if that's the case if you were a meter away would be sufficient to stop that occuring but you can operate the door lock/unlock from some distance so maybe theres other issues Mazda need to address.

Actual hands on and working in a service shops have it advantages over just being a member on a forum and looking for answers on the internet to post reply on a thread!
Anyone can look for answer, but few know how many people have the issues that are not as easy as what is always outlined in an owner's manual because there are too many variables not covered in either a service procedure or owner's manual

Strange that.
This is a related service thread in the proper forum area. and as such can be bumped and repeated.
If you do not have empirical facts and information and have not worked in a service shop please refrain from disrupting a thread which sole purpose is to inform members about something service related that is fact based and helpful
