NEED HELP ASAP!!!!
Looking into buying a 1992 Mazda Protege, 1.8L Auto 130K miles
Question is, it makes a Front-end noise when it makes right turns....what is this? CV Boot? Half Axle? |
RE: NEED HELP ASAP!!!!
What kind of noise?? A clicking type noise only on right turns is a good indication of failing left outer cv joint. Look to see if the boot is torn open and spraying grease all over the place

RE: NEED HELP ASAP!!!!
Yep, a clicking noise...
I kno it's hard to tell, but how big of a job is this? |
RE: NEED HELP ASAP!!!!
Listed labor time for a shop to replace is around 1 hour. Fairly easy job to do. Remove both bolts between the strut and steering knuckle assembly, remove outer axle stake nut, drive axle out of steering knuckle/hub, pop axle out of transmission and install a remaned axle. The axles do sometimes really stick in the hubs and can sometimes be difficult to remove from transmission as access is somewhat limited.
