Need help 92 mazda B2200 idiling probs.
My 92 mazda b2200 is idiling at 2000 rpm's and won't go back to normal . Is it the idinling sensor? do they even have one? how much would a new one cost?
This problem started with the warm weather. Where is the idiling sensor located?

Throttle Position Sensor?
Have you ever changed the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)? It is a variable resistor, with a wiper, usually all sealed in a tiny black plastic box, with one end rounded. On the side that goes to the Throttle shaft, it is formed to fit and be turned about half a turn, somewhere near the throttle plate, so when you press on the gas peddle, it opens a bit and the computer senses the speed. The wiper can get dirty, even crack, inside the sealed TPS, and there is no way to service it. Auto parts stores sell it, as does ebay. Two small screws hold it on, on Fords and Mazdas. If it fails, usually there are one or two modes. Engine can stall at idle, or, the computer can make the vehicle run in "shop mode" and just go to one set RPM so you can get it home, at about 35 or 40 MPH. I stock TPS units for my two Ford Explorers, Ranger, and my Mazda CX-7. I bought 4 (mine all use the same TPS) on ebay, for less than $10.00 each, including shipping... Vendors on ebay usually have vehicle fitment charts so you get the correct TPS. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-TPS-THROTTLE-POSITION-SENSOR-FOR-Mazda-Ford-Ranger-Mercury-3-0L-4-0L-V6/152833841387?hash=item23959b58eb:g:TIUAAOSwtVxaJ2B D:rk:31f:0&vxp=mtr
