MX3 Door Handle broken
 

I have a 92 Mazda MX3. My exterior door handles flip up when I pull up the handle. (my interior handle works fine.. the door will open from the outside) I assumed it was a loose screw so I thought it was no big deal. I removed my interior door panel and there did not appear to be a screw loose. I did see what looked like a circular very thin metal piece that was broken. I think it was screwed into the handle. I could not see where the broken metal piece might attach to or what was maybe missing from it. Does anyone know how the door handles are held in place? Any ideas for a home fix or what piece (s) I should be looking to replace? Thanks!
