minor tranny problem

Default minor tranny problem

my transmission grind a little in 2nd and 3rd if you shift too fast, and its hard to get into 1st. i think its my syncronizers but my friend said the clutch. it goes into 4th ant 5th fine. it just started grinding in 2nd. any ideas on what it is?

The pilot bearing could cause that which would require removal of the trans and comes with a clutch kit. Synchro problems are rare,Pilot bearing would be the most common then the sleeves that mesh with the synchro would be a close second. I would pull the trans and check the pilot bearing. If it is in good shape an overhaul would be in order.

thanks for the tip. is the clutch a simple replacement in this car, or should it be done at a shop? i dont do much if my own eingin work.

It is fairly involved. The trans must be removed.
