I am unfortunately coming to the conclusion that it is a power thing as I have NOTHING on the screen of the unit. No way to enter a code when there are no displays lit up. Figure I need to remove the unit and check through all connectors - already confirmed fuse is good.

Mark80 10-05-2010 03:50 PM

I hope someone out there may be able to help me...

My wife has a 2008 Tribute.

The other day our 2 year old decided to slip a nickel into the cd player.

I had to unhook it/take the radio out to remove it.

Both connections were disconnected.

I hooked everything back up and...nothing.

The LCD still displays 'Mazda Tribute', blinks (as if it's going to load the clock), and goes back to saying 'Mazda Tribute'.

The fuses are ok.

I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes to see if it would reset (with no luck).

So...I'm not sure where to go from here.

I called the dealer 3 times before I talked to someone. The guy at the dealership told me I'd have to have a local 'car audio' (aka ripoff) company look at it. He said it wasn't a 'code thing'.

I also called the Mazda helpline. The guy said that they were not trained in doing any codes and to call the dealer.

I really doubt the radio shorted out, being as it was disconnected.

The problem with trying the codes in this thread is that the radio on a 2008 Tribute does not have an 'Auto M' button.

Here's a photo of one:
http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezwe...cd_gallery.jpg

Any help is appreciated!

My suggestion would be that unless you are really in love w/the factory HU, do yourself a favor, save yourself a lot of time and expense, and buy an inexpensive aftermarket HU w/install kit and adapter/connectors. It might take you an hour to hook everything up but you will likely be left with overall better sound and a lot fewer headaches.

Lastly, make sure da' kid in question (and any others that may crop up along the way) stays in the back seat from now until he/she is twenty... or more.

Mark80 10-05-2010 07:02 PM

Haha.

I was detailing the interior and she wanted to 'help'.

I turned my head about 1/2 second too late!

After having the grandchildren visit us here for 2-1/2 weeks during the hottest part of last summer you will find that I am a BIG believer in teaching children their place in life. There will be plenty of time later for them to mess up their own stuff.

I was kept at bay by my parents when I was a child and it didn't affect me, except to teach me respect for other people's property.

One story that I like to tell now, is when I was around 6 or 7 I was creating a scene (being a brat) in the grocery store. Nothing my mother did was working to settle me down. She took our basket w/everything in it to an employee, apologized for my behavior and explained that she would not be able to continue her shopping now but would be back later.

She plopped me in the car, and w/o saying a word (she didn't have to) drove me home, about 10 miles on country roads, then drove back to the store. I think I was more embarrassed than she was, and sad that I could not continue "helping" her shop because I enjoyed it. But I learned my lesson and never forgot it, not to this day.

I was also not allowed to use the telephone w/o permission until I was in my early teens, and then only on a limited basis. Try THAT one today. It's all taken for granted these days and kids don't learn the lessons they need to.

OK, enough ranting. But seriously, I hope you as a young parent, and any other reading this post get my meaning.

Premacy Radio Cassette RESET, HELP!

1 Attachment(s)
Hi!
My father got a Premacy from 2001, the radio casstte is locked. I tried some of the solutions in this thread to unlock it, but didn't work, I guess it is for newer models. I attach a pic for you to see the model.
Note that the button AUTO-M doesn't exist in this model... (is it replaced for AST-ML?)

Can somebody help me? Thanks in advance.

Alberto.

Radio Code for 2001 Mazda Tribute

Thank you. Thank you. I finally have been able to reset the code to my 2001 Mazda using the information on this website. However, the code was not 4989, but was successful using 1414. Worked immediately, first time.
Cheers. Saved me some money.

Didn't work, help!!

I bought a 96 Mazda 323 Protege (Australia), and changed the old battery. Anyway, the radio reset, and a security code is required.
Contacted the previous owner, and was told the code card is lost.
Contacted the dealer, and was told a $60 bill is inevitable.

I found this forum, and tried codes like 4989, 1414, 5989 and 3511, none worked.
Would someone please help me?
The radio model is DC600/10, pretty old, photo taken this morning is attached.

virgin1 01-16-2011 02:35 PM

'Really don't know what to tell you, Alberto. Your IP says that you are in Spain which almost certainly different than North America, but may be the same as Europe?

I would guess you are correct about the AST bvutton, but have no way of knowing. I just can't imagine what else it might be? An automatic search button for the radio, perhaps? It's clearly a multifunction button as it's likely the ML as for using high content metal tape in the cassette unit.

Code to madza tribute

Thanks!

virgin1 01-24-2011 10:55 AM

According to your IP address, you are in Hungary. Is that correct?
Different countries use different codes and have different FM ranges. Most of the codes on this thread would likely be for North America, or at least the west.

dinkey 01-24-2011 03:08 PM

Yes! That is correct, i am in Hungray.
Can you help me?

jeannie 01-30-2011 03:56 PM

my mazda 626 '92' doesn't have the number 9 on the stereo.so what now

dinkey 02-05-2011 06:06 AM

Virgin1!

Can you help me, or i can contact my mazda dealer ?

virgin1 02-05-2011 08:20 AM

I wouldn't know what to tell you for a Hungarian code. In fact, radio resets are not well known by me anyway.
You will have to get a code for your country, or at least that part of the world.
Sorry about that.

mazda 3 from japan

hi everybody
my brother buy a mazda 3 2006 from japan but for some reason the fm radio can't go more like station 900 a mind he can find all station from 700 and 800 but is no way to more from 900
some one have idea how to reset this radio or maybe some procedure for try to get station after 900 range

thanx

virgin1 03-05-2011 08:09 PM

Probably just best/easiest to replace the radio w/either and aftermarket unit, or a good used OE designed to work in your country. Different countries use different frequencies for radio broadcasting... though I'm sure there is some overlap.

A reply to me and anyone else struggling out there! I used Blue's sequence and found a section marked 'Dispatch Code' on my V5. Tried this and it worked. Dealers fees varied from £30 + vat to £45. It only takes 20 seconds max!

Radio Code

I have recently had a new battery fitted to my 2002 Mazda 323 and had the message code on my radio. I do not know the original code.

I have tried to reset following the manufacturers instructions but using 4989 but now instead of code I have the err message and can't get rid of it.

Any suggestions?

So, this is the model of my radio as well. The car is Mazda Premacy. Since there is no Auto-M button, can anyone please tell me what would be the code sequence in this case? I know that some people made it work even on this type, so please, if anyone know, can you tell me?
