Mazda Demio Fault Codes

I have a 1999 Mazda Demio 1.3i. The first sign of problems I had with it was I noticed excessive fuel consumption. Then I noticed slight missing while cruising and uneven tickover. Then it started cutting out when the throttle opened more than about a quarter.

I can find no information about the Demio, no one seems to make a workshop manual for it, i have a manual for the 121 which is similar but not identical.

I took it to a mechanic who put a jumper and a wire with a LED into the diagnostic socket in the engine compartment and informed me I had a faulty lambda sensor. I replaced the lambda sensor but the problem remains unchanged. I have checked for air leaks, checked the fuel pump, checked the airflow sensor and various other things all to no avail.

I made myself a wire with a LED and checked the error codes following the instructions for the 121 but the codes don't seem to be the same. After using every method I can find for resetting the ECU, disconnecting the battery overnight, holding down the brake pedal, pressing the brake pedal five times etc. without starting the engine the ECU gives the following output.

One long one short.
One long five short.
One long three short.
One long five short.

I would be grateful for any advice on how to proceed.

I've looked at the car some more while the weather wasn't too bad and found that it is a Ford four digit EOBD code. I found that out by deliberately putting faults on and seeing how it changed the flashes.

However that would make the code 1535, only codes up to 1000 are specific to Ford after that they are manufacturer specific. 1535 on the Ford codes is a fault on the blower fan.
