Mazda Connected Services
I am thinking about buying a 2022 Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition. My sister has a 2020 Rogue and when we go paddle boarding she leaves her key fob in her car and uses her phone to lock and unlock her Rogue. I was looking forward to doing this with my Cx-5 but the salesman said I can not lock or unlock my car via my phone if the key fob is inside. Is that correct? Does anyone know why or if there is a way to program it to work? I have a waterproof case for my phone so it would be very convenient to only have to take the phone and not my fob.
You are correct that you can not lock your key fob in the car and unlock it with connected services normally. I believe there is a way to disable the key to make it work but I have never tried it. You should be able to find a post on the forum on how to disable the key fob. I don't recall how much was involved in disabling and enabling it later.
