Default Mazda 6 cuts off at times.

I'm the owner of a 2006 Mazda 6 with 70,000 miles. Lately I'm experiencing stalling issues. This has happened so far 4 times while sitting at a stop light. It's like the tach and speedo will go full scale followed by the engine shutting off. Almost like turning off the key. It always starts right back up. Noticed today for the first time while driving the lights flash and the hello message comes on like when first starting the car. It will then go back to normal. It doesn't shut off when I'm in motion. Although it might and start right back up due to being in gear with foreward motion. Any clues? It is throwing no codes. I do have a code p0126 witch I feel is another issue and not related to the running issue.

The P0126 is coolant thermostat. By now you should have changed the coolant. Dirty coolant can throw the coolant sending out of whack. If you haven't changed the coolant, do a flush and fill as well as installing a new thermostat.
70,000 miles means you also need to do all the following:
1) change spark plugs
2) change PCV valve
3) clean EGR valve
4) clean throttle body
5) clean MAF sensor
6) installing new plenum, throttle body gaskets when doing above
7) check for vaccuum leaks, cracks on intake accordian tube

It could be throttle body related, so cleaning it may help.

Thanks for the input. Did clean the MAF sensor this morning, and so far put 35 miles on it with no problems. Will definitely accomplish the rest soon. Thanks

Still going strong after several weeks have gone by. I guess the MAF sensor cleaning fixed the stalling, or engine cutting out. Also changed the thermostat last week. Not a fun job. It also seems to have fixed the P0126 code problem I was having. Waiting for cooler weather to do the rest.

Ok, got the plugs changed. The thermostat fixed the check engine light, and cleaning the sensor fixed the rest. Next will be cleaning the throttle body. Have to pick up a new gasket for same.
