Default Mazda 3 2004 battery change

I changed the battery on a Mazda 3 2004 2.0L and now it stalls and shuts off at red lights, stop signs, or going slow ( below 15km) reasons for why and ways to fix would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum

Using a diagnostic scanner you need to go find the DTC in the two main areas in the ECU and check the status of your I/M monitors.
You are actually describing a bad battery . Maybe get it load tested if found ok then…..Please don’t respond with you know it’s a good battery unless u had it load tested at the time you purchased it.
If the battery tested good then….
Only on a hunch….. disconnect the ground cable for no less then 15 minutes then reconnect and start the engine. After you achieve normal idle RPM go for a short drive 2-5 miles . If that did not solve the problem then go retrieve the ECU information.

Disconnect the battery. Clean your throttle body. Reconnect battery. Start up the car with no load ( no lights, no AC etc ) let it idle for a minute or two, then go for a drive.

They didn't mention that the car has to sit between a half hour and a hour to reset the computer. If not it will run rough (hunting idle) and can stall when you come to a stop. It needs to relearn where the idle needs to be.

5 minutes 10 if you just want to feel better!

More then that does nothing ... See , Basic 12 volt systems, Battery design specifications and usage, Formulas for voltage and electrical trans fer of voltage energy.

There will be a TEST later on this subject... lol

A simple Digital volt/ohm meter is all that is nee3ded to see when a battery is disconnected from the main supping station that the voltage will dissipate even within less then a minute. The only exception is if the system has a back up battery source or very large capacitors often used in aftermarket stereo systems.
