Default Keyless entry gone wild

I looked out the window the other morning to find my 2012 Mazda5 lights flashing, horn honking and doors locking and unlocking!? Best I could tell it was from some errant signal within the keyless entry system. Fortunately, leaving the key in the ignition disables the keyless entry system, but I spent a couple days worrying about theft. I figured that maybe some snow/water found its way in somewhere where it shouldn't so I left the windows down as much as possible in hopes of drying things out. It worked! The ghost in the machine seems to have disappeared, but I'm wondering are there any known Mazda vulnerabilities where water could infiltrate and create a short in the electrical components of the keyless entry system? I'd really like to prevent this from happening again.
