Keeps stalling on me!
I just bought a 89 MX-6 and when I put it in any drive gears the cars choles and dies. I just did cap;rotor;wires and plugs. Next is the fuel filter (I think is orig.) and a Tranny flush as well (the fluid is Dark but not burnt). Again it on;y stalls in Drive and lower; not in reverse or Nuetral or park. How the hell do I get it to stop!!!!!!!! [:@]

RE: Keeps stalling on me!
did you check for leaks in any hoses or for connection problems, does it shake before it dies

RE: Keeps stalling on me!
Check the intake air hose between the air cleaner housing and throttle body. Carefully look at the accordion hose section for a split in the hose in that area.

RE: Keeps stalling on me!
I ordered a new cleaner hose cause it has duct tape all around it. I don't think that hose would cause it to stall out only in drive though; right? All vaccuum hoses are new going to the intake.

RE: Keeps stalling on me!
Duct tape around that intake hose is a giant red flag that the hose is torn open and has been shade tree'd back together. It will most definitely cause the problem you are describing. Rip off the tape and watch the hose as someone else shifts from park to drive. You will see that the tear opens up due to engine torque in drive but closes back up in park, neutral, and reverse. That opening is allowing unmetered air into the engine past the Mass Air Flow sensor in the air cleaner housing and results in a sudden and severe lean condition that causes the stall.

Thank-you very much for all the input.. I' keep you posted and let you know once I get that fresh air hose replaced.

RE: Keeps stalling on me!
I'm wondering if I should use Duct tape to see if it runs better until I get the hose.

RE: Keeps stalling on me!
I use duct tape to seal off the hole in my intake it woks fine but the emissions light come on, but its only cuz the airsensor is getting the wrong reading.
