I have a Mazda MX-5, which is supposedly ‘copper red’ in colour. I was in Halfords last night and bought the ‘classic red’ colour which looked exactly the same as my car. (ideally I should’ve checked it was copper red first of all, it doesn’t actually look copper red, it’s the colour in the below:

I put the primer on which is a totally different colour and the paint itself (I tested a small patch) doesn’t match.

I’m really worried that I’ve ruined the back of my car – is there any recommendations where I can buy the correct paint colour? Will it matter if I leave the primer a few days before painting over it?
