Flashing DPF light
Hi all,
I have been reading these threads tonight with great interest because yes I have a Mazda 6 2.0 sport diesel and yes the dpf light started flashing tonight! Has anyone any ideas about my problem though because I don't drive my 45-60 minute drive to and from work every day nice and easy, I bought the 'sport' model after all and enjoy my drive with 'great enthusiasm' on twisty roads no motorway or dual carriageway included. I have the car 9 months and i took it to a mazda stealer for it's timing belt change and service to have 'peace of mind' motoring afterwards!!!!!! That was about 3000 miles ago and hence my entry to this forum. Please help as i don't believe I have any worthwhile independant garages around. OH ****! Just remembered I checked oil level last weekend but forgot to check out reasons or consequences as the oil level was close to the 'x' mark!!!! |

Hi mate
Have you seen this website http://www.cdn.dk/mazda6/tips.htm? This site gives the detail on how to reset the indicator, the difference is on some newer cars the accelerator pedal has to be pressed 10 times rather than 5. Good luck Samtan72 |

Sorry forgot to mention that it worked first time for me, let me know how you get on

This is good information, but I wonder if its the recommended way to do it? It sounds a little dangerous to me such as comonurs may have found out. We don't have a diesel option here in the US, only petrol so I wouldn't know. But in the earlier days of service indicators, it sometimes took a special tool plugged into either the instrument cluster, or a port under the hood. BMW's come to mind with this, and after a few years they became available on the aftermarket for around $70. But as I say, that was then and this is now. I'm not sure it still works that way. |
