Looks like Mazda has eliminated cyllinder deactivation on all 2026 2.5 na Skyactive G motors. I wonder if they discovered a problem for longtime reliability .I checked website of numerous dealers and all Mazda 3 sedans & hatchbacks, CX-30 and CX-50 all have the 8th letter of the vin L which means no cyllinder deactivation. No real announcements from Mazda concerning this but makes one wonder if there is something they are not telling which would hinder remaining sales of all non turbo 2.5 na still in stock. Would be nice to know if there is a potential problem with cyllinder deactivation being kept a secret.
I wouldn't speculate anything. There is no evidence service-related issues in any numbers to suggest what you are only wildly speculating on. But now that you started a thread on it is now part of the disinformation on the WWW available and I am sure will spread and cause at some point to become unsupportive rumor. .
At least you could have mentioned that many owners have come to just NOT like it! At least that would be a fact.
BTW as an independent Mazda certified warranty Technician I looked at my available information that is directly from Mazda Corp and there is nothing whatso even with any unusual problems reported anywhere in the world with Mazda deactivation systems.

Title isn't only misleading, it is wrong at least for the USA. I was at my Mazda dealer Friday and looked at 3 2026 CX-5. All 3 had cylinder deactivation and i-stop plus it is in the vehicle builder on all trims in the USA.
I think the above is the outgoing 2025 CX-5? There is still a lot of 2025 inventory flowing (injust bought one) and CD and IStop are indeed on preferred and above. The NEW 2026 CX-5 is not showing any CD or I-Stop mention on Mazda USA website. I guess we'll have to see what happens
The above is from the 2026 CX-5 builder on the MazdaUSA website. All trims show CD and istop using the builder. Plus the actual window stickers list it on actual cars at the dealer.
I see the same all 2026 CX-5 2.5L having cylinder deactivation and i-stop. My local dealer here in Holland MI has 2 2026 in the showroom and isn't for sale until February 23. I was just there for a service and saw it. It actually looks a lot like the current CX-5.
Ha, yeah Ok you guys are right. I was using the trim compare too, and its not mentioned there yet- that threw me-, but indeed in the builder and inventory of vehicles in transit seem to be ALL with CD. Also appears to be a new VIN code in "A" instead of "M" (with CD) or "L" (without) in the 8th position maybe?
From what I can see the 2026 CX-30 and 3's seem to be all "L" without CD
So maybe the new CX-5 is all CD...and the CX30 and CX50 is not... ? Interesting indeed.
Mazda USA just published the 2026 CX-5 final spec deck PDF and it does show what we were seeing on the window stickers. All trims appear to have Cylinder Deactivation and i-stop though i-stop does have an asterisk and I don't see the footnote on it. It also has the Mazda can change this at any time lingo they put in there every year.
