Cx7 obd2 trouble codes ??? O2 sensor??
PLEASE HELP.....
I recently sold my truck and got this SUV For my growing family...wife's due in October and of course this was a private sale. The check engine light is on now and displaying a long list of codes, i was able to remove 4 of them myself from trying a MAF clean, and replaced the air filter and cabin filter ( both were in horrible shape ) and then check for codes again and narrowed down to these one below. P2089, P2097, P050A, P0178 P2187. - not resolved P2089 P2097 P2195. - not resolved P050A P0101. - not resolved P2177. - not resolved P2178 Thanks in advance |
Any ideas what causes these to read? Any supporting links ? Thanks

P2187 : There is a service bulletin regarding this, solution is a PCM software update.
P2089 : Is for the Oil control Valve ( runs the variable valve timing ) P2097 : There is a service bulletin regarding this, may require replacement of the Air/Fuel sensor ( also called 1st or upper O2 sensor ) P2195 : Same result is P2097 P050A : Can't find anything. P0101 : MAF performance P2177 : There is a service bulletin regarding this, solution is a PCM software update. P2178 : Fuel system too rich at off idle - ( Maybe related to O2 sensor code & codes requiring a PCM software update. ) 1st step would be booking it in at Mazda for a PCM software update. Once this is done, clear all the codes, disconnect the battery for 10 minutes, reconnect, start vehicle with A/C & lights OFF, alwo to idle for a few minutes before road testing. |
When you say " a service bulletin " can you link me to this article? Is it in mazda forum thread or off there website? The only recalls local mazda said that's covered for free is the Control arms and a airbag issue.
Thanks Still reading into this code.... still getting it. But now only P2187 code is displayed Replaced the O2 sensor. Did a good MAF sensor clean |
Service bulletins are classified to Mazda, and are different from country to country.
Did you get the PCM software updated? Did you fit a genuine Mazda O2 sensor? |

Did you get the PCM software updated? Did you fit a genuine Mazda O2 sensor? It is not mazda genuine O2 sensor. But it wasnt too cheap either it was a 100 cdn. Do you think that could be reason to leaving this one ghost code behind.... And no, pcm update yet, I have to book it in for a service. They didnt do any update when it was in for a recall issue for control arms and airbag.... although the control arm broke while my wife was driving and they replaced the drive shaft as it fell out too once disassembled and a couple months went by and did an oil change and notice the leaking fluid from around where they replaced parts and brought it in and they replaced the transmission with a new one as they said something punctured it when the wheel fell off and I guess they didnt see it...... but need to bring it back to them monday as the tranmission still has fluid leaking.... somehow :-( And I could ask them but that'll cost $$$ and maybe not fix the issue lol or cost lots of $$$$$$. |
I've seen numerous issues, on numerous models fixed by a simple software update. Definitely the 1st port of call.
