cig lighter/ashtray illumination?

cig lighter/ashtray illumination?
My 99 1.8 BJ does not seem to have a lamp fitting to illuminate these
things. The cig lighter unit has the green ring around it,so I assume it
should have lighting.
Does your similar car have this?
