Check engine light

Just after buying my Miata MX5 1999 model my check engine light came on. After having it checked and reset I drove away and not long after the light came on again. What can the problem be? Thank you

Do you know what code your getting? I have a 99 and it was my EGR Valve and sensor. The light came back on and I believe it was my gas cap. You need to make sure it's on tight.
