Default Changing timing belt by age?

Got a 2003 P-5, with just over 60,000 miles. Our independent mechanic says it's time for a new timing belt. The agency says it's good for over 100,000 miles. I tend to believe the agency, but since the car is 9 years old, I'm wonder if it should be changed due to age. The agency service manager doesn't think the age matters. What's the opinion here?

I think he means Protege 5. I have read in places that Honda recommends anywhere (depending on year of car) from 5-8 years, anytime after that and your just asking for trouble much like going over mileage. Timing belts may be stronger than a normal fan belt but they serve the same purpose, they do get brittle and cracked with age alone over time. Just for your own piece of mind I would replace it.

To be safe, replace it now its 9 yrs old. Most manufactures recommend 5 yrs of 100,000kms / 60,000 miles.
