Brakes Squealing... sometimes
Hi there. My brakes will sometimes make a terribly loud squealing sound when I apply the brakes. The brake pads are brand new, and the pair of brake pads I had previously had plenty of meat on them and they squealed as well. However, it doesn't always squeal, and it is more prevalent when it is hot outside. Any ideas?
Did I lube the pads contact points? No, I've never needed to in the past, so I never thought of doing so now. Last I heard, lube is not required if the pads have that little metal plate included. But what do I know.
Did I lube the caliper slide pins? No, I've never needed to do that either. Is this a common problem with Mazda?
Of the handful of cars I've owned (and had experience working on), I've never once needed to lube anything regarding the brakes. To reiterate, I hear a screeching sound sometimes when I apply the brakes. It's more common the hotter it is outside, but even then it isn't necessarily every time I brake.
Did you use genuine brake pads?
Very very important to lube the pads & especially the slides.
Also its a very good idea to machine the rotors when replacing pads.
Sounds like you need to take the vehicle to a professional who knows what they are doing.
