89 B2200 Fuel Pump Problem

I have a 1989automatic B2200 that has the fuel pump in the tank. I bought a cheap replacement pump from a national parts store chain with a life time warrenty. I've replaced it 3 times. It looks like the pump is gone again and I need to replace it. Instead of replacing with the same poor quality "warrented for life" part, I'd like to switch to another brand? Any suggestions? I can't afford a pump from the dealer ($300+). Several years ago, I heard that another make and model pump would fit, but I can't remember what was suggested. Any ideaa? Thanks,

RE: 89 B2200 Fuel Pump Problem

Cullen,
I have a 1990 B-2200 that also has the fule pump in the tank. The previous owner had installed a new fuel pump inline. He extended the electrical wire to reach the new pump near the fual filter at the rear of the tank. I recently had to replace it and it works well.
I have other problems with the truck no one seems to have an answer to, but the inline fuel pump works well.
