30,000 mile service-no need for cooling system/trans fluid service right?
I've got a 2016 Mazda 6 GT. Currently has about 32,000 miles on it. This morning I dropped it off for it's 30,000 mile service, and just like they did for the 15,000 and 25,000 mile service (which I've declined both times), my dealer has tried to get me to do some extra service on the car besides the oil change/tire rotation and factory recommended service. I have seen varying opinions on this, so I wanted to get some input.
Verbatim from their flyer, the 30,000 mile "extras" they tried to sell me this morning were:
At 15,000 miles, they tried to sell me a "engine performance service", and at 25,000 miles they wanted me to do a "power steering fluid exchange service" and a "brake fluid exchange service". Again, I cannot see how any of these need changed so soon. So--they're just trying to upsell me a bunch of BS that doesn't need to be done, and isn't even factory recommended, right?
Verbatim from their flyer, the 30,000 mile "extras" they tried to sell me this morning were:
- Cooling System Fluid Exchange Service: "We first install an safe and effective cleaner to remove scale and deposits from the engine and radiator components then power exchange all worn out, contaminated coolant with factory approved new coolant. Our technician finishes by installing BG Super Cool coolant to supplement to prevent corrosion and protect engine components. This service is part of the BG Protection Plan. See your advisor for details." $159.95
- Synthetic Transmission Fluid Service: Utilizing state-of-the-art technology we will use a safe and effective cleaner to suspend harmful gums and varnish that form inside the transmission. Next we exchange all the worn out and contaminated fluid from the entire system with fresh factory approved fluid and finish the service by installing BG Automatic Transmission Conditioner to help protect seals and good shifting characteristics. This service is part of the BG Protection Plan. See your advisor for details." $199.95

Ask them to show you in writing where Mazda recommends such service; under the assumption they cannot (and they can't), ask them to put in writing their recommendations and then forward them on to Mazda USA.

Coolant should be FL22 long life 10yrs or 200,000kms/ 125,000miles.
Do you do any towing? Lots of round town driving? if so, you trans fluid maybe getting worn out, but I highly doubt it. A flush at 60,000miles isn't a bad idea.

Transmissions run hot 60k service is good

I fully agree transmission service at 60 k is good. I am taking 2019 cx 5 to the dealer for a flush and fill vehicle has 50000 miles. I have been working on cars since 1972 I had recommended and performed tranny service every 2 years or 24000 miles on older cars. My dealer in Clermont Florda has quoted $139 I am having it done.

I agree mostly labor.
Yes it's mostly labor with maybe 3.7 quarts fluid. It's extremely cold here in Clermont Florida, without a lift lying on the floor is not worth it.

Ok so not a full fluid replacement only a transmission filter service.
