It sounds like you know a lot about programming Mazda remotes.can you explain about programming?

 

Good morning. I had 2 keyless remotes that came with my MPV when I bought it in beginning of 2004. Been using one all these years and it finally bit the dust. The other has been in a drawer all this time so I got a new battery from the dealership for it and tried to reprogram using your steps. Programming works just fine until I try try the step for the remote and it will not work. Tried several times. Went back to the dealer and asked if the battery could be bad. Of course they said no. They want well over $100 to reprogram the remote and I won't do that. Do you have any suggestions for me? At least the batter was only $5 Sure would like to have it working. Many thanks.

 

Since I made my post earlier today, I did more investigating. What I found was several comments stating that - if you do not have one working remote, you cannot program another. Unless you have a working remote, you need to go to the dealer so they can use their diagnostic computer. Boy, have they got us over a barrel.
