2001 tribute runs rough in the rain, check engine light comes on
 

Does anyone have any advice for my problem?

Iown a 2001 Mazda Tribute, V6. I took it to a car wash to wash the vehicle and whenI drove away it started to run rough, runs at low idle, misses, and then the check engine light came on. Note I did not wash the engine. A month later,I went to the car wash again and the same thing happened. The other dayI drove in the rain and the vehicle started to run rough, miss, and the check engine light came on.

Every time the check engine light came on, it flashed at first and then went to solid on. After a few days the check engine light goes off and the vehicle runs fine.

I bought a OBDII code reader and it says P0303, cylinder #3 miss fire detected. Is it the coil? What could possibly cause this problem?

Probably is the #3 ignition coil. High moisture content in the air can often cause a coil to break down more easily. Is actually a good test to look for ignition spark arcing to ground thru a faulty wire or coil is to spray a light mist of water on the area.

The EXACT same thing happens to me with My 2002 Tribute. I've had it in the shop 3 times, everytime it says a different plug is missing for the code but everytime he pulls that plug it's in perfect condition. I realized later that after a few days of driving rough itdrives normal and then usually by the next day the check engine light goes off.

This drives me crazy, does this happen to anyone else, and was that the fix above?

I am having the same problems with my 02 progetge, However tonight it decided it didn't want to start anymore. Is this a common problem with the proteges as well?

I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute. I have replaced all three ignition coils in the front of the engine. The check engine light has come on again. I plan on replacing the DPFE sensor, but after that I have no idea what to do. Obviously this is a huge problem with Mazda Tributes. Why is there no solution!?!?!!?

I can honestly say I will NEVER buy a Tribute again and it will take me a while to get the bad taste of Mazda in general outof my mouth.
