2.0 liter inline-4
I have been told by several people and have even seen it on several professional auto review sites that the First-Generation Kia Spotage uses a Mazda 2.0 liter twin cam inline 4 to power itself, could anyone on here tell me which Mazda model the engine is derived from, I did a little bit of research and noticed that the 626's cubic inches match, and the lb. ft. of torue also matches, the sportage has 12 more horsepower,is it the same engine?

RE: 2.0 liter inline-4
Originally, the engine base on the 1983 FE series 2.0l sohc, next was the F2 series 2.2l sohc fuel injected, finally the FS series 2.0l
dohc which most likely what the KIA engine is based on. |
RE: 2.0 liter inline-4
I was told it's an fs3 , can it be upgraded any, it really does need it

RE: 2.0 liter inline-4
I never done any performance work on the FS engine, seen K & N filters & pipes, cat back exhaust. The FS engine was new in '93,
Mazda 626, MX-6 & Ford Probe used it. You don't see to much on Mazda engines unless it's Miata or RX. |
RE: 2.0 liter inline-4
how long was the fs used in mazda 626's,the ford probe
|
RE: 2.0 liter inline-4
Mazda used it from '93 until '02 626 & MX-6, as for the Probe I'm not sure.

RE: 2.0 liter inline-4
can Thomas Knight's supercharger still be used or is it possible to swap ford's 2.5 v6?

RE: 2.0 liter inline-4
im buying a 96 sprotage, witch ahs the mazda 2.0, and i wna tto know if the mx-6's 2.5 v6 will fit also. i know a guy who just totalled his mx-6, and it had a 290 horse NA v6 underits hood, and he's willing to sell, or possibly a partial trade for my z. and do you know of a turbo upgrade for the 2.5 or the 2.0? i would love to see the looks on people faces if i can tell them i have a twin turbo kia sportage.
