1991 626 dies when it wants

Hi, my 626 runs well and will just die without any warning. When I try to start is again it won't. There are no check engine lights that come on. Also, when I drive the car the temp. goes down until it pegs at the cold side. ?????

Temp dropping down pretty much has to be a thermostat stuck open lg1 as this is the only thing that can make an engine run too cold. When the 626 stalls you need to try and find out if you have ignition spark or not. Too many things that can make an engine stall and not restart so need to try and narrow down the possibilities.

My 323f used to cut out at random. Turned out that the whole of the distributor system was packing in. Had to have it replaced. Cured the problem.

took out the spark plugs and tried to see if it was getting fire.... it was not. So I took the distributer off and cleaned the rotor bug. It started right up, but only ran for about a day or so. What does is mean, replacing the whole distributor system?

Cleaned the rotor bug? What is that? Since you know you do not have spark you will probably want to narrow down to distributor or ignition coil. Probably a pick-up coil/ignitor problem as this is the most common for loss of spark. When no start occurs take the coil wire off and see if you have spark directly from the coil. If you do not then get a 12 volt test light, ground the clamp end to battery negative post and other, light, end to the negative side of the coil. It should be marked ( - ) for negative and + for positive. When cranking the engine during no start the test light should be flashing. If it is flashing but still not spark then would look in direction of igntion coil. If no flashing then distibutor is most likely culprit.
