ABS control module replacement

My control module stopped working, probably because my Mazda 6 sat for 16 months, slowly getting the engine replaced. Can I bleed the brake system or does it need to be done at the dealer with a "scan" bleeder system?

Standard brake bleeding will bleed the fluid from the resivor thru the ABS pump to the wheel.
