Default Reversing Camera

What ho one and all,

Just taken delivery of a 2015 Mazda 3 hatchback. Does not have all the bells and whistles, including not having a reversing camera, which I fancy as a DIY upgrade.

Dealer told me a mere £500, but plenty of YouTube videos imply that it is easy and even that once installed, does not need further wiring to the screen. The videos imply it just works. Is this actually the case or does one have to not only access the rear of the screen (or control box as my car has the screen sitting up on the dashboard) but fiddle with the wiring plugs and sockets?

Thanks and toodle pip

Rex

Been doing some research and fitting a camera is something that I am happy to undertake as it is not so difficult.

I realise this is probably a 'how long is a piece of string' question but.....

Some videos imply that it is as easy as fitting and connecting the sockets/plugs behind the boot lining. Others imply that the wiring has to be taken to the screen. The 'piece of string' question is, what is correct?

My feeling tends to be that everything is already in place, just the camera and its initial connections are not installed at the factory, but what do i know?
