okay so i just got a 2005 Mazda 3 hatchback and one of my buddies told me that he pulled the stereo out of his and bought a cord to plug into the back of the stock head unit that allows him to plug his ipod in. i cant figure out if this is true or not, any help??? i did however find a plug in the back back of the stock head unit but im not sure if there really is a plug i can buy to do this.

does it look like a headphone jack? if it does, what you need is a male-to male (I know sounds gay) auxillary cable. Ask a radioshack employee and they should be able to get you one for about $10. I do not know the stock radio but many cars now-a-days do have soem sort of iPod support behind the unit, or an auxillary port.

I bought an auxmod basic to add the jack. I have heard since that the circuitry was not necessary and a simple cable would have worked. I thought that 2005 and older may need the more complex version...

comments?

Oh, I did have to buy an inline suppressor from "the source" that worked very well and did not seem to clip much of my sound away.

'04-'06 Mz3's do not have a built in input, and there are no RCA inputs on the back of the HU. '07+ Mz3's have a 3.5mm input in the center conosle (ACI) which connects to the back of the HU.

There are multiple aftermarket simple and ipod integration inputs available for the 3.

I added the factory ipod adaptor to my 08 CX-7 (Bose w/o nav) and have ran into a problem. It isn't charging the ipod. Since I'm a tech and electrical idiot, I had a local stereo shop hook it up for me. Since they're very reputable, I threw away the installation instructions after I got home. I'm sure there's probably some type of setting that they overlooked. Can anyone help me out with a site the instal instructions may be? Calling Mazda was useless.
